Inspiration/References:
I gathered dozens of campus photos before sketching different compositions, finding ways to make the buildings feel recognizable while simplifying them into clean vector shapes. I focused on creating a clear visual path that naturally guides the viewer toward the center of campus.
CBU and the surrounding city of Riverside are filled with warm pink tones from the sandy architecture and well known southern California sunsets. I used those softer hues in the background while bringing the buildings forward with deeper blues and golds from the school’s color palette, making the campus the main focus of the illustration.
